At the Royal Sportsman Hotel we offer our guests and customers a luxury 3-star experience in the beautiful harbour town of Porthmadog, Gwynedd, at the gateway to Snowdonia and Llyn.
We always aim to make our food the best in the Porthmadog area and eventually want to become THE place to eat in Gwynedd. Our high-calibre chefs consistently create exceptional meals, breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas and dinners at great value, using only the finest, freshest, ingredients sourced mainly from local suppliers in Wales. The hotel has a superb reputation for producing high quality 2AA Rosette food.
We have 28 guest rooms of varying size all en-suite and non-smoking across three floors. These can suit individuals, couples, families, those with walking difficulties, with dogs (selected rooms) and large touring groups. Our larger ‘family’ rooms have a double and 1-2 single beds, these can also be used as either twin or double rooms. They are far more spacious – with additional furniture and an over-bath shower. Our small (standard) guest rooms are comfortable with a standard walk-in shower. All of the hotel's guest rooms (except singles) can be shared or sole occupancy.
We have a traditional, friendly bar serving customers and guests an excellent range of real local ales and other brand-leading drinks at competitive prices. We can host up to 40 delegates for business functions and a maximum of 90 guests for social occasions, in our spacious lounge with adjoining restaurant. We offer a friendly and professional booking service, superb food and drink to suit all budgets and a relaxed ambience. We have set rates for full- or half-day room hire, a range of quality buffet options, an excellent choice of best-quality teas and speciality coffees.
Just 400 yards from our hotel, the Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog Railways combine at Harbour Station to offer 40 miles of unparalleled travel through stunning Snowdonia scenery on these charming ‘Great Little Trains of Wales’.
Nowadays Snowdonia and Llyn are also an adrenaline-addicts’ paradise, crammed full of all kinds of outdoor adventures like: aerial zip-wiring, underground trampolining, a Bear Grylls’ survival challenge, golfing, walking, cycling, climbing, horse-riding, wildlife-watching, and water-sports.
We are the only hotel in the area with guests’ discount vouchers for many leading visitor attractions.
