Hillside House is in a beautiful part of Devon and offers charming and homely guest accommodation in Lynmouth. The house dates to at least the 1790s, with parts of the building, thought to be much older. The oldest part of the house may date from as early as the 1400s. Over the years, it has been thoughtfully decorated, ensuring much of the original charm and character has been kept, whilst combing it alongside modern amenities.
Like many old buildings, it has settled a bit and you will fail to find any walls or floors which are straight or corners which as perfectly square. For many of our guests, this is part of its charm. The décor sympathetically combines many original features with period furniture. Each guest room includes:
Central heating.
Freeview TV.
Hairdryer.
Beverage tray.
Either en suite or private facilities.
Free Wi-Fi internet access.
Breakfast is included within your room rate and is cooked fresh to order. We have a hearty full English or vegetarian option as well as lighter, cooked breakfast. Please do advise when booking if you have any special dietary requirements.
Situated overlooking the East Lyn river, our guest house is ideally suited both to the needs of walkers or those of a less strenuous disposition. We are a mere 400 yards from the South West coast path. It is a perfect position to explore the coastal, riverside and woodland scenery, rugged cliffs, secluded bays, Exmoor moorland and the Doone Valley to name just a few. A gentle stroll along the river to Watersmeet is a must when visiting Lynmouth. Walk through the village with its enchanting harbour, interesting shops and a good and varied choice of eating establishments.
Take a boat trip along the coastline or ride on the famous water-powered cliff railway to Lynton. Follow the coast path to the Valley of Rocks.
