The Crown Inn previously known as The Crown Hotel is situated in the heart of the English Lake District in the centre of the picturesque village of Coniston in Cumbria, close to all local attractions and shops.
The Crown Inn has 12 en suite bedrooms which consist of twins, doubles family rooms and triples. All rooms are centrally heated have high quality mattresses for a good night’s sleep. They include televisions, coffee and tea making facilities, hair dryers and direct dial telephones.
In the morning Breakfast is served from 8.30-9.30 in our dining room, offering guests the choice of fresh fruit, cereal and juices followed by a choice from our extensive menu varying from a hearty full English to smoked salmon and scrambled egg.
Meals, snacks and beverages are served all day in the public lounge bar, or we can offer the same menu in the adjoining dining room for a quieter atmosphere.
There are many places to visit while staying with us:
Coniston Boating Centre –Just a short 5-10 minute walk from the Crown Inn is the boating centre, where you can hire motor boats, canoes, rowing boats. They also offer activities on land including mountain biking or electric bikes.
Ruskin museum –The Ruskin Museum is just a short walk from The Crown Inn and gives people the opportunity to learn about the history of Coniston, including John Ruskin himself as well as the Coppermines, farming, Donald Campbell and much more.
Brantwood –Brantwood was the home of the famous John Ruskin, which you can visit easily by cruising across the lake or alternatively walking.
Lakes Aquarium – A great day out for everyone on those rainy days, situated on Windermere Lake at Lakeside.
Go Ape –Go ape is a ‘tree top adventure’, it’s an award winning high wire forest adventure course of rope bridges, Tarzan swings and zip slides up to 40 feet up in the trees.
