Collingwood Arms Hotel offers comfortable and relaxing accommodation in Cornhill-On-Tweed, Northumberland. The hotel enjoys magical views of the River Tweed and into the Scottish Borders, ensuring our multi award winning hotel sticks long into your memory.
Many of our guests come to cast for a salmon from the mighty River Tweed, which passes only yards from our door. Others come to enjoy the magnificent Northumberland Coast, or the wilds of the Cheviot Hills.
Our hotel bedrooms are a perfect marriage of traditional style and modern convenience, bringing together antique furniture and period bathrooms with digital TV and outstandingly comfortable beds. All 15 rooms are en suite and include twin and double rooms and deluxe doubles featuring roll top baths with separate showers, all finished to the very highest specification. Families are well catered for too, with adjoining rooms and cots available for babies.
The Collingwood Arms hosts what is widely recognized as one of the Borders most highly rated restaurants. After a refurbishment in the mid ‘00s, its reputation has gone from strength to strength, aided by our team’s dedication to innovation, excellence and enjoyment. An intimate setting, the Dining Room itself retains the charm and character of yesteryear with a thoroughly modern comfort. It provides a fitting focal point for many visits to The Collingwood. Our Head Chef Tom Shutt has created a team that consistently produce some of the finest and mouth wateringly delicious dishes. Fruit (gooseberries, plums, apples, pears, and rhubarb ) are grown in the Collingwood Gardens along with potatoes and herbs to complement our other locally sourced food. With an abundance of fantastic food suppliers in the area, we are well placed to create our Menu based around fresh produce.
Our Wine List is varied and we ensure that each dish can be complimented by a fine glass, or even bottle of your choice. The subtle splendour of the Dining Room makes every occasion special. At the rear of the hotel, the tranquil gardens offer the chance to eat ‘al fresco’ during the summer months. Our menus change daily and are accompanied by a carefully selected wine list and cheerful service.
In Northumberland and the Scottish Borders golf is part of everyday life with almost every town or village seeming to support its own golf course. We have listed just a few of the 18 hole golf courses which we believe are examples of the outstanding links and parkland courses in our area. And although some of the Border Country’s courses are as testing as any in the world, the main challenge is to keep your eye on the ball amid such splendid surroundings. To make the most of The Collingwood Arms and play your Rounds of Golf, telephone ahead with the courses you wish to play, dates, tee-off times and we will book the rest for you. Whether you fancy a gentle ride along the banks of the nearby River Till, a more thrilling gallop on the stunning Cheviot Hills, or a breath taking canter along the clean white beaches of Holy Island, Kimmerston Riding Centre has over 30 quality horses and ponies for all levels of experience.
